The early years of a child’s life play a pivotal role in shaping their overall health and well-being. It’s a period marked by rapid brain development, laying the groundwork for learning, behavior, and health. High-quality early childhood development, education and care programs, as confirmed by research, can substantially bolster a child’s development, setting them on the path to future success.

Understanding this, Places to Grow, an emerging network dedicated to fostering healthy child development, is committed to aiding caregivers and communities. Our goal is to build a united front of early childhood development, education and care organizations. This cooperative effort will focus on identifying and tackling the challenges encountered by caregivers and communities.

The hurdles faced by these communities and caregivers are numerous and often vary based on unique local circumstances. However, some challenges are more prevalent than others. One such challenge is poverty, a condition that can severely affect a child’s health, education, and overall well-being. Poverty-stricken children are more likely to experience developmental delays, lower academic achievement, and chronic health conditions.

Places to Grow is resolved to confront the unique obstacles that poverty presents. Our members are early childhood development organizations experienced in working with low-income families. By sharing best practices and effective strategies, we aim to support children and their families living in poverty. Our efforts include providing resources like quality childcare, health services, and educational programs.

Limited access to quality childcare is another significant challenge we are committed to resolving. Many families grapple with finding quality childcare, a situation worsened by the dearth of available services, especially in rural and underserved areas. To address this, we are striving to identify service gaps and provide support to extend access to quality care.

Quality care is a cornerstone for a child’s education. Children enrolled in top-tier early childhood education programs are more likely to excel in school and later in life. Recognizing this, Places to Grow collaborates with early childhood development organizations to enhance resources and support, thus broadening access to these crucial programs.

Beyond addressing poverty and access to quality childcare and education, our members understand the importance of involving caregivers and communities in the planning and implementation of our programs and services. This hands-on approach allows them to better comprehend their unique needs and create programs that echo their culture and values. Consequently, this increases engagement and participation in early childhood development programs and services.

Since its inception, Places to Grow has made substantial strides in promoting healthy child development. We’ve created a collaborative community of early childhood development organizations that work hand-in-hand to alleviate the unique challenges faced by caregivers and communities. This includes extending access to quality care, championing quality early childhood education programs, and addressing systemic challenges.

As we look towards the future, we invite potential donors to support our mission. By supporting Places to Grow, you’ll create a sustainable early childhood development, education and care (ECD/ECEC) ecosystem in Central and Eastern Europe for marginalized communities, improving ECD/ECEC organizations through professional development, leading to high-quality early childhood development and education support.
