I was blown away by the reception of this event. The Open Source Software for AI community had our second ever hackathon on March 2nd, 2024. (Link to the winners of the first hackathon). We had 125 people sign up (here’s our calendar link if you’re in Seattle and interested!), 77 people show up, and 14 projects submitted.

Our hackathons always begin with a short review of the agenda, some guidance on team formation, and a workshop. This time, our theme was AI Agents built on top of Milvus and LlamaIndex. You can find the notebook used for the tutorial under the AI Agents Cookbooks on GitHub.

Our hackathons have two tracks: experimental and production. There is one winner for each track.

The experimental winner was “Papyrus Chat” (slides, GitHub). This project won due to it’s creativity in using a video to uptake a book and make a book reader using AI. Team picture with the judges below.

The production winner was “Glance” (slides, GitHub). This project won due to its ability to be applied in a practical sense. People do need help with maintenance, and AI is a great tool for that. Team picture with the judges below.

Big thank you to our sponsors: LlamaIndex, AI Bloks, BoundaryML, and Zilliz. As well as our judges: Jerry Liu, Sophia Lu, Don Sheu, and Vaibhav Gupta.
