As Mojo Melee and Planet Mojo come out of stealth mode and prepare to hit some major milestones, I wanted to send an overview of what we’ve been working on and where we’re headed over the next few months.

We’re incredibly grateful to our community members dedication to the project. Your passion fuels us.

The team has been heads down for many months, hard at work on the new season Frozen Fates, preparing Mojo Melee for our global mobile release and some groundbreaking new web3 features.

On the game (i.e. web2) side, this has meant a lot of polish, performance improvements, new content, new features, adding better analytics, setting up our Amazon Prime Gaming offers and getting approved by Google and Apple (a lot of work!).

But even more exciting … over the last couple months, the team has been in stealth mode working on new web3 features that we’re pumped to share with you. These include some of the most requested features from our community and new features that you may have not have expected (wOOt!). This article focuses on our new web3 features. Value to Holders

After these features come out, there will be more reveals. And adding value to our holders is a top priority to us.

As a reward for our community believing in our project, all Mojo holders will qualify for additional in-game perks and airdropped rewards.

Mod-able Mojos and The Mojo Maker

The Mojo Maker

Mod-able Mojos and the Mojo Maker are a first of its kind on-chain avatar system connected to a web3 game (that we know of at least). The four existing subclasses of in-game Mojos have been converted to become the default Mod-able Mojo types. So this means everyone playing already has at least one! But with the debut of the Mojo Maker, you will now be able to take off their original “Costume” bodies, break them apart, and choose from a bevy of other gear and dress-up items.

The four in-game default Mojos will be able to use the Mojo Maker system and unlock or purchase gear for them. But only once the Mojo has reached Level 20, will you be able to mint it on-chain. After it is minted, any changes made in the Mojo Maker will also be seen on-chain!

In the next update we will introduce tinting to certain gear, and much more. We will also begin writing stats such as the Mojo’s Level and more into the metadata attached to the Digital Collectible.

In-Game Minting & New Leveling System

Frozen Fates will debut minting Mojos in-game. This comes with a new Leveling system where players can now mint their Mojos when they reach Level 20, and then continue to Level up five more times, advancing through new “Star” stages. So after Level 20, you will advance to “Star Stage 1, Level 1”. Your unit will then Level up again to Level 20, and then become Star Stage 2, and repeat the process. There will be rewards along the way and at the end of each Star Stage, you will receive a special Mod-able Gear item.

All in-game minting will be done to Sequence Wallets. This allows us to sponsor gas costs for our players as well as many other efficiencies. If you do not have a Sequence Wallet, you will be prompted to create one (“i.e. Digital Vault”). This is an EVM compatible wallet and you are free to transfer NFTs to MetaMask, which we will continue to support to read NFTs into the game.

Origin Mojos — What will happen to them?

Our original Mojo holders will always be a top priority to us and have a special place in the project. As we roll out new exciting updates, you will have first access to them including upcoming drops, exclusive rewards, new games and more. In addition, here is some important information to know for the new season:

  • The original Origin Mojo Collection will continue to be read into the game and be used as playable characters. This next season you will be able to fully play with them and see them in Battles in the game.
  • The Origin Mojos will not be “Mod-able” or be able to be used in the Mojo Maker. They are fully immutable and their attributes will remain fixed.
  • Verified holders will receive a new Mod-able Mojo that is a replicated version of their Origin Mojo, which they will be able to modify. This is coming in an update after the season.
  • Origin Mojos will still give out the most Collection Tier points in the game. The Collection Tier points for Origin Mojos will actually be raised in the next Season, reflecting their rarity. Mod-able Mojos will have no rarity attribute.
  • We plan to burn the remaining Mojos in the Origin collection.
  • We then plan to introduce the many original Mojo parts as Mod-able dress-up items, so people can mix and match to make their own custom Mod-able Mojos.

Post Season Update

After we release Frozen Fates, the following features will be released in an update.

New XP Designation System

One of our most requested features is right around the corner! Soon you will be able to decide which Champions or Mojos your XP rewards go to, if you own more than one. We know our holders have been waiting for this and we apologize it’s taken so long. We had to get some of the above critical features in first and now that they are, this is a top priority. Thanks for your patience!

Champion Minting

Like Mojos, we will allow minting of Level 20 Champions in-game, to your Sequence Digital Vault (wallet).

On-Chain Stat Metadata

We will also be adding new stats to on-chain metadata to Mojos and Champions. This will begin with their Level and we will be adding more over time. What other stats would you like to see? We want to hear from you!

Web3 In-Game Integration

I wanted to take a moment to highlight that we have decided to build our web3 features directly into Mojo Melee and not isolate them outside the game on a separate website. While this has taken more time, we feel it is the only path forward to onboarding new players into web3 games. This is also why we chose to take Mojo Melee to mobile platforms vs Steam for example, where web3 features would need to be removed from the game entirely to even be accepted on the platform. As compared to mobile, we’ve been working directly with Apple and Google, and they have fully approved of the game’s web3 integrations. This is the road to mass adoption for web3 games.

Mobile Release

We continue to test Android and iOS mobile builds, targeting a global release in early 2024. We have a lot planned around the launch, so more on that soon.

Going Forward

Beyond the release of Mojo Melee, we have some incredible things planned for 2024. Watch the Gam3s.gg showcase for a tease, and there is a quite a bit more.
