In the Blink of an Eye
As the world becomes ever-more connected, the flow of goods and information is accelerating and change can happen in the blink of an eye. Satellites offer a unique vantage point from which to see the world as it rapidly evolves, giving us transparency into what’s happening.
With the successful launch of six SkySats last fall, Planet now operates the largest fleet of high-resolution satellites that is capable of imaging any point on Earth twice a day. This allows us to monitor global change across our cities, ports and waterways, and even remote areas with greater agility and frequency.
When captured by a SkySat satellite, change can be obvious, like state wildfires, and subtle, like the movement of a single ship that’s “gone dark.” The imagery below is twice-daily imagery taken by SkySat satellites in locations across the globe, often taken about three to four hours apart.
