How’s your dream life been? Busy? Non-existent? With a Gemini Full Moon yesterday, one might be a little on the insomniac side . . . but if you’ve restfully found yourself in REM, perhaps others met you there.

Extenuating Celestial Circumstances: Mercury-Neptune square (11/27); Moon in Cancer (11/28–12/1); Venus-South Node Conjunction in Libra (11/28); Venus-Pluto square (12/3); Mercury pre-shadow (Mercury Rx 12/13) Chiron-North Node Conjunction in Aries (2/19/24);

People from the past (even past life!) may be paying your mind a visit — whether you’re conscious of it or not. These relationships may not have ended on good terms, so you could find yourself considering extending an olive branch — or two, or three, depending on how many people are popping up in your head! The problem is, time has passed and our memories of these relationships are cloudy. (Thanks Mercury-Neptune square for the delusions!) Were there fond moments? Sure. But are those relationships worth opening Pandora’s box?

Today, I had 13 Christmas cards leftover from my order and didn’t want them to go to waste. I went through all of my contacts, wrote out an address for someone I’d excommunicated (for lack of a better term), and then crumpled up the envelope for the trash bin. I couldn’t pull the trigger to reopen communications with a select few who’d hurt me deeply. As much as I continue to want to share my joy, when it’s not received it’s like a denial. So why even bother?

Interestingly, shortly after Venus’s trip down memory lane with a conjunction to the South Node tomorrow (Wednesday), it’ll square Pluto in Capricorn on Sunday. Past hurts cannot be ignored. Are our memories (re)triggering a wound? It’s easy to want to smooth things over with strategies such as killing with kindness, or agreeing to disagree, but is that really in our best interest? Of course it’s the holidays and it’s great to all get along, like for the sake of the kids, but the elephant in the room is hard to ignore. Sometimes it’s better to be alone than to feel alone in a relationship.

Meanwhile, Chiron in Aries is building (albeit slowly while still retrograde) to a conjunction with the North Node in the same sign. You ever heard of loving ourselves before we can love others? Yeah, that fits with the aforementioned astrological stories. What’s going on now is building to healing opportunities, so long as we don’t dismiss our desires in the process.

Venus represents more than relationships, though — it is our desires internalized, manifesting as physical comforts and constructs (like self-esteem) that make us feel good. It is balance, harmony, and mediation. Maybe it’s not a person from the past but a habit or a thing that’s difficult to part with — perhaps there’s some codependency there! Where do you begin, and it (whatever it is) end?

When some people talk of teams or partnerships, they consider each part equal to the other. But we aren’t so equal, are we? Instead, we need to reframe this necessary equality in relationships to requiring equal effort, instead— which is a blending of the Venusian (being equal) and Martian (being effort) energies we are juggling as the lunar nodes transit the Libra-Aries axis. Not opposites, but complements. And still balanced.

This all isn’t to say that there isn’t some fond reflection occurring here; opportunities to reconnect to lost pieces of your heart that perhaps someone had stolen away from you! How alive you might’ve felt then . . .

How might you reclaim that fire? Start by finally letting go of Venusian things that no longer serve you. The South Node is an exit point in the cosmos, though ironically — yet intentionally — the hardest position for discarding. The familiar feels good! And with the Moon in Cancer at this exact Venus-South Node conjunction, we want what feels like home.

Now, maybe this Venusian trash is indeed a relationship: platonic or otherwise. Maybe it’s money slipping through your hands (*raises my empty hands*). But here’s the thing: Whatever has got to go is getting in the way of your and my survival (and our healing). Maybe I needed worsening debt to kick my ass into high gear on working on my earning potential. Maybe I need to stop relying on my partner so much for breadwinning and put a little more effort into being a team player. If I didn’t have him, where would I be in terms of self-sufficiency?

Examples like mine serve as merely potentials for how this could be manifesting in your life. And it’s not like we’re thinking clearly right now to even acknowledge our truth and to bask in self-awareness. Mercury is still in separating square to Neptune and in pre-shadow for its upcoming retrograde from early Capricorn to late Sagittarius.

So, sit tight. Don’t do anything too rash, even though you miss X, Y, Z so much that it hurts! And be weary of all the old comforts coming out of the woodwork. If it feels too good to be true, it probably is!
