Even Racist, Hater Minds Can Change
The following video is fascinating on several levels. I tend to think haters and racists are lost causes. But this video made me think again. People can and do change and some are just an epiphany away from shifting their perspective.
These are the salient points.
- Fear and one’s own personal struggle are amplified to make people start casting blame on others.
- Hatred and xenophobia are rationalized because we focus on our own survival first. Enemies are created to support the power structure, but this must be subverted.
- Love is the way to conquer hate and fear. While we might find them despicable, most of the time what they need is more love.
- Redemption can be found when you clean up the messes you’ve made
- Sometimes people need liberation from their delusions, which is why we need a revolution of mind.
Here is how change in people happens:
We are not helpless. We are not powerless. We need to recognize that we have truth force, love force, light force, and soul force. We can win this war of ideas, we just have to love more. Do we have to love what they do? Of course not. But unity is where we need to get to, so sometimes we need to make the effort to educate. We also have to walk our own talk, which means promoting tolerance and acceptance, and being willing to be the light in these people’s darkness.
What we need is a sense of unity. We know what’s wrong. We know how to solve the problem. But we lack the collective will to do so. This must change.
