Sheet overlays just got a lot better with manual adjustments for perfect alignment and even deeper insights when comparing sheet and drawing changes, identify clashes, and reviewing constructability.

See more precise differences between set revisions (or trade drawings) on your phone or tablet.

Have confidence in identifying conflicts before they become a real problem.

From design development to construction, countless hours are spent flipping through 36”x48” sets and overlaying sheets on light tables — with the goal of mitigating risk by identifying conflicts that could result in unexpected costs, rework, or schedule delays. Instead of poring over paper drawings inch-by-inch on a light table in the trailer, you now have a powerful and precise sheet comparison tool on the iPhone and iPad that immediately highlights any changes or conflicts between drawings.

We believe in keeping PlanGrid simple and easy-to-use. With that in mind, we’ve created a two-step process for you to adjust any two drawings that are offset for an accurate comparison (including a handy D-pad for precise positioning — cue Nintendo and Atari memories!).

Drawing revisions are frequently issued throughout a project, which means teams in the field must be able to quickly identify updates — sometimes revision clouds just don’t cut it. Identify all changes on the fly with PlanGrid’s sheet compare tool; it’s an easy way for owners to pinpoint anything that would affect budget, and for field teams to catch changes in scope.

Find a problem? Email a snapshot, or add it to an issue for tracking within PlanGrid. If questions were raised with a revision, get immediate clarification by creating an RFI with a snapshot of the detail.

Coordination review is vital to ensure trade drawings don’t conflict before construction work begins, as undetected clashes are costly and introduce significant rework. With drawings generated by multiple consultants, they’re often laid out inconsistently — but by manually adjusting the overlay in the latest PlanGrid update, you’ll immediately see any problems that needs attention.

Whether you’re comparing MEPFP, RCPs, structural or civil drawings, the ability to do so quickly and reliably on site with just PlanGrid will save countless trips to the trailer. And, for convenience, custom overlay adjustments are saved and can be accessed any time from your iPhone or iPad.

Trade drawing coordination in the palm of your hand
