Construction with PlanGrid: for owners

For an owner, there’s nothing more frustrating than paying for rework because a building wasn’t built correctly or decisions were made too slowly. Studies show that rework can account for up to 5% of total construction costs—not to mention the impacts to both budget and schedule. While rework can be attributed to multiple factors, it’s often a result of poor document control and working from outdated information.

PlanGrid helps mitigate rework and inefficiencies by providing access, speed, and accuracy. It represents the single source of truth, where owners can access all of the documents and history of the project.

Instant plan distribution and transparency

Project engineers spend an inordinate amount of time making sure the field has the most up-to-date project information. Despite this taking up hours of their day, it’s justified—because the stakes of not getting it right are too high. Instead of printing and distributing paper, hunting emails, or searching through digital folders, using PlanGrid, finding the sheet you need takes only seconds. Upload a new revision, and it will automatically supersede the previous version and instantly update on everyone’s device. In a recent PlanGrid survey, 93% of respondents said they are confident they’re working off the most current set with PlanGrid.

Resolve issues quickly

Issues come up every day, and resolution depends on communication from everyone involved — but it’s the owner who makes the final call. How far along are we in the project? Can we make modifications without tearing out work? Having all the project information, including specs, submittals, schedules, RFIs, and more at your fingertips means decision making is easier and faster than ever. And because issues are so easy to manage, track and respond to on PlanGrid, they’re resolved much faster.

A complete and accurate audit trail

Owners are painfully familiar with the value of progress photos. They routinely visit the jobsite or pay others to take photos, documenting system installation behind walls or above ceilings before the contractor closes off areas for access. It’s invaluable for an operations team to know how systems are routed when they can’t access these areas once the building is finished. PlanGrid streamlines all of this documentation by allowing owners and contractors to load up PlanGrid with redlines, photos, approvals, and documents they wouldn’t typically collect in a single place. No information is lost, and you’ve got a complete history of the project for reference at any point.
