Last week, we announced the beginning of our 20th anniversary celebrations. In that spirit, today we’re sharing our Top 10 Journal posts.

We added a blog to our website during the great redesign of 2007, so we can’t go all the way back to the beginning of the company. But here are some of the standout posts of the past decade.

Warren Says Hello
April 2, 2007

Though not technically our first post ever (it’s our fifth), this one is Warren’s formal introduction of our website redesign, and in which he admits his resistance to blogging. (I think he’s been converted).

The Plank Way Back Machine
October 8, 2008

This one is a flashback to a flashback — so meta. Click through to see what we were up to in 2003, including working with Michael Moore and our SXSW nomination for best film website for Bowling for Columbine.

Plank: Behind the Scenes
February 29, 2008

The Plank team has seen its share of stellar photographers over the years. In 2008, Nancy Beaton created a Flickr group for Plankers to share moments from the silly to the sublime. With almost 1000 photos spanning 2008–2013, it’s a real trip down memory lane.

Plank ♥ Github
February 12, 2010

Here’s one for the devs, in which we discuss the transition in our version control systems from Subversion to Git. We’re glad we “branched” out — it’s still what we use today.

A brand new look for Head & Hands
February 17, 2012

This was our first pro-bono project, and it was a big one! Over a year of collaboration with this Montreal-based non-profit resulted in a brand new logo and website. The website has since been redone, but the logo is still going strong.

Plank is proud to help bring CreativeMornings to Montreal
May 31, 2013

Steve Bissonnette, our Managing Partner, is the founding host of Creative Mornings Montreal. In this post, he shares the story of how it all came to be, and the team that made it so.

Mailchimp hat for cats
February 12, 2014

The internet is for cat pics. You all knew that, right?

The Woman Who Bought Dowser
August 22, 2014

This epic tale spans the soaring highs and despondent lows of app development, and is the best piece of storytelling ever to grace the humble pages of the Plank Journal.

Rush.com, shortlisted for Redesign of the Year
September 21, 2015

We did not win the 2015 Net Award for Redesign of the Year, but we’re still pretty darn honoured to have been considered with fellow nominees Airbnb and The Guardian. That’s good company.

Down with Jerks!
May 4, 2017

This thoughtful post about what truly defines success comes ten years after Warren introduced the Plank blog and wondered “What the hell am I going to blog about?!”

We’re glad we’ve kept up the journal over the past 10+ years, and look forward to sharing more of our thoughts and projects with you in the years to come.
