When First We Practice to Deceive!

No cord nor cable can so forcibly draw, or hold so fast, as love can do with a twined thread.

Duality is in the Eye of Deceiving Her

When First We Practice to Deceive!

Inspired by Robert Burton (1577–1640)’s quote, “No cord nor cable can so forcibly draw, or hold so fast, as love can do with a twined thread.”. The titled responsion is referring to the darker side of love, the side where deception is part of the end-game played out by bad actors. The mutual games we play bind us together. I wonder if Ariadne’s thread was in fact intertwined with this sort of deception? Self-serving for the sake of survival, this thread was severed with the sailing of his ship, back home. The homecoming of one hero is the heartbreak of another lover.

Perhaps more of a deviant thought versus a duality. Against the social norm is the classification of this deviant. Actors on the stage have “company” rules. Remember, deceiving a deviant has disastrous consequences for more than just the Minotaur.

Duality is in the Eye of the Deceiver

Inspired by Bertrand Russell (1872–1970)’s quote, “The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.”. The titled responsion plays on the act of deceiving her and the malignant deceiver, both bad actors with sometimes benefitial outcomes. The irony lies within, for some more than others.

This Cartesian perversion of crippling doubt and the lack of a testable Telos acts as the limiting factor and the lowest common denominator of our shared ignorance. If the layman can understand the explanation of an expert without prejudice and an expert can explain without condescension then a foundation exists for a pathway forward to prosperity. Game Theory is fractal in nature if we bypass any and all alternatives to acts of altruism. So go direct to goodness and learn more my friend!
