I was so excited when my sister Diana and her husband Andrew told the family that they where expecting their first child! I just assumed since I was her sister I would be planning the shower and it would be easy like that! Boy was I surprised… here are a few tips to relieve your stress!
- Who will be planning the Baby Shower party?
Is it easier to do it yourself? Are there other family members or friends who want to help? Planning a baby shower is usually easier with more than one person.
2. The date of the baby shower, the time and how long the baby shower will last. When planning a baby shower communicate with the mother to be and/or father about what is best for them. I would say 6 weeks before the delivery date.
3. The Baby Shower Theme for the party. Communicate with the mother to be because she may have an ideal of a theme. This will help make it easy to plan your invitations, decorations, favors, food, etc.
4. Organize the guest List.
Communicate with the mother to be and father on who they want to be at the baby shower.
5. Budget Budget Budget
A huge consideration when planning a baby shower is reasonable budget. The budget for the baby shower depends on how many people are coming, where it is held, what kind of food you will provide, the baby shower favors you give out, game prizes, shower decorations, and invitations.
6. Will some of the guests be bringing their children?
If so, make plans to have entertainment for the children.
7. Where will the baby shower be held?
The park, a hall, your home or the parents to be home.
8. Shower menu
The shower menu will depend on how many guests will be attending, the time of day, the shower theme, and your budget. Will you want to serve a complete meal or just appetizers, snacks, and beverages. Are you going to prepare all of the food yourself, or are you planning on asking others to make some of the food? If so, ask them now if they willing to help out. You can always have the food catered. If this is an option then reserve the caterer now.
9. Invitations need to be bought and prepared
Communication with the mother to be on what kind of invitations she would like, from inexpensive to expensive, would help out.
