I started with an idea to empower teachers to be self-employed professionals just like family doctors, dentists, architects and your local lawyer. If teachers are given complete creative control over the when, where and how they taught we would have a cohort of go-getting and inspirational educators who could develop classroom environments that played to their own particular skills and strengths.

With a platform of enthusiastic educators, parents could choose the right teacher and classroom environment for their child. Parents would be able to choose schooling that suited their lifestyle and educational values unencumbered by traditional term timetabling and school holiday schedule. Kids would never have to ‘get stuck’ with a teacher with whom they just didn’t resonate.

And thus Platform Education was born. A mechanism that allows parents and students to connect with highly engaged teachers to curate an education that is tailor made for each individual child.

We start tomorrow with our first Platform teacher and our first Platform students in our first Platform space. Or in other words — we’ve hired a brilliant private teacher for Ethan (9) and Ollie (6) and our dining room table is now our classroom.

Watch this space!
