To feel sad or in agony is the thing that I hate the most. I want to feel happy, respected and loved by everybody at all times. At the end of the day, it is always about me wanting to be somebody in front of people and not in front of Him. And that is the reason I am unhappy.

Alhamdulillah is a strong phrase if you really mean it. It defines your gratefulness towards Allah swt for the blessings he bestowed upon you or your surroundings although they are in disguised. I still vividly remember when something terrifying happened to me recently, the first thing I did once I reached home was performing ‘sujood syukr’ in tears. Although at that time I feel that it was not something I should be thankful of, I believe that Allah swt always has something good in his plans and it was just a matter of time for me to discover. I will not start the story because I do not want to wake up with swollen eyes tomorrow, however, trust me that every day I find that it was indeed a ‘hikmah’.

Move an inch closer to Him each day, do good to people no matter how cold they are towards you, raise your confidence and lower your gaze. I reckon that I am starting to turn into somebody that I was not before, I talk more often with the opposite gender about unnecessary topics, I feel it normal to stand close to them although I could avoid it and I feel nothing unusual if I accidentally touch their hands while passing things because it happened a lot of time previously. It is definitely not good because from these ‘little’ things to us, we could lead ourselves to the next stages that could destroy our identity as the Muslim youths.

Every time you feel sad, quickly find something that could bring your happiness back.

Some people might find it through songs, Running Man, talking to people and perhaps some shopping? Elevate your technique by starting to find a verse from the Quran that could remind you to be grateful and happy, performing ‘solat sunat’ and praying to Allah swt to alleviate the conflicts you are having.

Stop comparing yourself with others and stop comparing among your friends because that could bring them down. We do not know everyone’s history, talents, achievements and true self. Do not judge based on what we see instead look for the beauty in other people to make ourselves beautiful because we are the reflections of the image we perceive.

Be happy. Be thankful. Smile!
