For more than 20 years Jim McCarthy has been a champion of the arts and live entertainment.

In his new book, Beyond the Back Row: The Breakthrough Potential of Digital Live Entertainment and Arts, Jim explains how and why event organizers are moving away from what he calls the ‘Business Model of the Damned’ to the best opportunity ever for an entire industry and audiences.

“The message of this book is that your audience (and your sales) don’t have to stop at the back row of your venue,” says Stellar, CEO, Jim McCarthy. “This book puts what I’ve learned from people succeeding with online live events before and during the pandemic into one place. Reading it is like a cheat code for success in digital live events.”

In May of 2020, it became clear to the then CEO of Goldstar that the live entertainment shutdown due to the pandemic would go on much longer than anyone anticipated. He and the team greenlit Stellar, the only full-service livestream platform for professional live entertainment organizers, committed to delivering premium interactive online shows to paying audiences around the world.

In October of 2020, ticketed audiences tuned in for the very first livestream show on Stellar.

“Video is by far the most popular form of media. The pandemic opened the door to an opportunity, but live producers and venues still have to walk through it,” Jim said. “It’s the best opportunity to supercharge live businesses in decades or maybe ever.”

Beyond the Back Row: The Breakthrough Potential of Digital Live Entertainment and Arts (Houndstooth Press) debuts July 19, 2022 and is available here
