This Spring, Reservoir and Chrysalis Records took home the Marketing Superstar Award at the 2024 Bizzy Awards, hosted by Music Biz, for the De La Soul Campaign.

The Marketing Superstar Award recognizes a marketing campaign that was innovative and thought-provoking across any sector of the industry.

The campaign also recently took home a People’s Choice Webby Award for “Best Launch in Advertising, Media & PR” at the 28th Annual Webby Awards, recognizing the best innovative and effective campaign for a brand launch or relaunch, including film, TV, and other media.

The De La Soul Campaign also took home several marketing awards at the 2024 A2iM Libera Awards including Best Reissue, Creative Packaging, and Marketing Genius.

In 2021, Reservoir secured New York-based hip-hop trio De La Soul’s legendary back catalog through the acquisition of hip-hop label Tommy Boy Music.

In March of 2023, the group’s music was released on digital streaming services for the first time ever, distributed by Reservoir-owned Chrysalis Records.

De La Soul initially released their seminal album 3 Feet High and Rising on March 3, 1989. Due to the laborious task of sample clearances, the group’s first six albums, released between 1989–2001, were unavailable on DSPs.

The Reservoir and Chrysalis teams worked for 18 months to clear the samples and prepare the music for streaming.

From January 2023 through March and beyond, the Reservoir and Chrysalis team leveraged partnerships with the DSPs to execute a creative marketing campaign
