“It’s not that you’re missing out on something, or it’s not that this experience could be better for you, It’s that you’re, cheating! And so you’re getting the rewarding part of it... And it’s the difficult part that you’ve somehow gotten out of.”

Daniel Willingham, a Psychologist at the University of Virginia addresses how listening as opposed to reading is ‘cheating’ in his blog post.

Most of us have a busy week. Getting home from a tiring day, only to sit in front of another white screen might not always be delightful. We don’t have to put so much efforts into consuming content, we don’t need to. Ask the traditional readers, they know its an addiction, a necessity. But, can we consume content with lesser efforts? Yes, by listening!

Imagine if, instead of reading an article, you are listening to it. You can be going about doing chores with the audio playing in the background. Listening is just more convenient! Not to mention the added bonus of multitasking.

See ‘Listen to Medium Articles as Podcasts’ to know how you can literally start listening to any article on Medium as a podcast.
