Elaine Hsieh

Diving into graduate school! and off a helicopter!

Elaine Hsieh is an M.S. Urban Planning candidate at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP), concentrating in data analytics and the built environment. Before her move to New York City, she spent four years in the quirky city of Berkeley, CA, where she earned her B.A. in Urban Planning and B.S. in Environmental Economics and Management at the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to joining GSAPP, she worked as a Planning Intern at her hometown of Hercules, CA and as a Researcher at the Transportation Sustainability Research Center at UC Berkeley studying micromobility.

In her free time, she enjoys running, doing yoga, baking desserts, and having jam sessions on the cello and guitar with her friends.
