Bonkers. Absolutely crazy! That’s it. That’s my summary for this week. Record sales for NFTs have shattered as Beeple stole the crown. He will probably remain king for many months or years to come. This week we’ve truly seen history being made. Then to image that the most fun news of this week is the fact that you can soon order actual pizza within a virtual world. 🤯 Christie’s Sold Beeple NFT for $69 Million
This is news for the history books. Basically I can also end the newsletter here. One of the most renowned auction houses in the world auctioned an NFT by Mike “Beeple” Winkelmann for $69 MILLION. If you’re talking about casino games in the metaverse, there’s only one name that comes to mind: Decentral Games. No wonder Atari ended up partnering with them to create their Atari Casino inside Decentraland. 🤑 Another CryptoPunks Alien Sold for $7.51M
The CryptoPunks community has seen two major sales this week, as two alien punks sold for $7.5 million each. The first sale took the NFT sales record, only to be destroyed by Beeple a few hours later. This is major news for on-chain art and NFTs in general, even though overshadowed by Beeple’s art sale. 🍕 Order Pizza While Traveling in Decentraland
The Friday Metazone will demonstrate their latest meta, one that lets you order pizza at Domino’s. Metazone creates interactive NFTs that can be deployed inside Decentraland. So basically you will soon be able to place a pizza stand and order pizza without ever leaving the metaverse. Cool stuff. But ultimately not the first. Read more!
🔥 Burned Banksy Art Sold as NFT for $382.000
So first you buy a $75.000 print of a Banksy artwork. Then you scan it. Mint the digital image onto the blockchain. Burn the original physical work, and sell the NFT for $382.000. Nice move. Apparently now they are milking it by selling NFTs based on their burning event. Learn more about this crazy event
🌮 Taco Bell Sells NFT Art on Rarible
Another great story about mainstream trying to enter the NFT space. Not, I don’t mean that story about the Wu Tang Clan stealing someone’s art, selling it on Rarible an then getting banned. No, I mean Taco Bell selling taco art, but by mistake setting the price very low. Now they made $50. Even from the resale they earn nothing, because the set the commission percentage to 0.01%.
