Genesis Season Lore: Black Market Dealers Backstory — Only Wrong If You Get Caught

BLACK MARKET DEALERS are the smallest faction… by choice. Composed of the solo operators and behind-the-scenes merchants of Black Meta’s destructive creations, they have a code of ethics driven by power, ruthlessness, and profit. Elite-group-turned-crime-family moved under the banner of Black Meta for one reason: access to the most efficient death-dealing weapons on planet Earth.

Backstory — Only Wrong If You Get Caught

The Catholic Church had the crusaders. The Monarchy had the royal guard. The Oxycontin manufacturers had doctors.

MetaMasons had the Black Market Dealers.

As the powers of the Dark Shards slowly came into focus, the MetaMasons knew that in order to focus all their energy and attention on unlocking further utility, they would need protection, and they would need money.

The Dealers were quite willing to provide both. A cluster of individual operators, each more than capable of running their own multinational corporation, willingly subsumed themselves under the banner of Black Meta in order to achieve wealth and power beyond their wildest dreams. Here, they had unfettered access to the most efficient death-dealing weapons the world had ever seen, and were given free rein to set their own prices and their own terms.

From the earliest days of their loose affiliation, the Dealers stayed to the shadows, brokering deals between world leaders and terrorist groups alike, always putting profits above morality.

By spreading the dark creations of the MetaMasons far and wide, they knew that they were creating a tenuous stability of mutually assured destruction across the planet, which meant no one who was purchasing their hellfire wares would ever dare use them.

Slowly, they stockpiled connections, weapons, and cash, eventually amassing far more power than their employers. Little is known about their inner workings, or the oaths that bind them. Individually, they are feared. Together, they are virtually unstoppable.

As the research station left orbit and headed to parts unknown, the Black Market Dealers assembled themselves and began to lay out their plans. Their alliance had functioned well in the past, and they were confident it would function even more effectively within the constraints of the ship.

Should the station ever find purchase, the Dealers were prepared to finally make their move, claim the Dark Shards for themselves, and rule the world.
