Four PlayChip-powered Rabbitohs featured with a strong showing in one of the most anticipated fixtures of the Australian sporting calendar, the State of Origin series between New South Wales and Queensland.

Greg Inglis leads the South Sydney Rabbitohs onto the field

The Blues muscled their way to a 22–12 victory in front of a huge 87,122 bi-partisan MCG crowd.

Star Rabbitoh Greg Inglis, clearly elevated by his new responsibilities as captain of the side, led from the front with several tackle busting runs and a massive hit on rookie Blue Tom Trbojevic. Inglis rushed off the line and poleaxed his young opponent, driving a forearm into his face for good measure. The incident prompted a penalty against the skipper and a minor scuffle broke out, but it was clear that Inglis had done what he had set out to. Down 8–0 at the time, the Maroons shifted gear and winger Valentine Holmes snapped up an intercept to score a spectacular 85m breakaway try.

Queensland coach Kevin Walters couldn’t have been much more effusive in his praise of Inglis.

“If we had 17 Greg Inglises we would have won that game.”

Not to be outdone by his clubmate, debut hooker Damien Cook demonstrated his immense workrate with a 55 tackle showing as well as several dangerous runs out of dummy half, while fellow Rabbitoh Dane Gagai made his way over in the corner for a spectacular put down despite dislocating his finger the day before.

Along with the high-performing Rabbitohs, betting.club partners the St George-Illawarra Dragons were also well represented across both sides, with big man Tyson Frizzel and debutantes Jack de Belin and Paul Vaughan lining up for NSW, and Ben Hunt in the opposition halves.

The strong representation of the Rabbitohs and Dragons in origin, considered by many to be the pinnacle of rugby league, correlates with the ushering in of a new era into origin football. New South Wales selected a record 11 debutants, while Queensland themselves handed three players their first chance in a Maroon jersey following the loss of their “big four” to retirements and injury.

Change and evolution is as natural in rugby league as it is with anything else. The installment of a new guard by (also new) coach Brad Fittler was rewarded with a solid performance against an experienced yet fading opponent.

It is this mentality that the PlayChip embraces, ushering in changes to the status quo that will ultimately provide a far superior and secure transactional gaming system. The blockchain is ushering in an entirely new format with which transactions can be managed, providing users of the PlayChip a level of autonomy, security and speed with their finances that have never been seen in the industry before.

The new-look Blues showed their rivals exactly what a changing of the guard can help to accomplish, just as the PlayChip will help to lead the $3 trillion dollar gaming market to the blockchain.
