GM friends of Civitas,

It’s time for our July monthly recap, and we both know the article’s main focus: the first Civitas collection [free]mint.

Despite the mint being free and offering just a small batch of a larger collection, the vast majority of the NFTs were minted in the first 2 hours since the minting site went live, and the relatively small number of people who decided to sell their NFTs meet so much demand to make the floor close to a single digit ETH from the get-go, with peaks of almost 1.5 ETH.

While the whole event was nothing short of extraordinary for a group of first-timers in the web3 space, this mint represents just a stepping stone. The goal of Civitas, after all, it’s becoming a web3 game that people enjoy.

Variations of Ninşiku, our first character NFT

From cool-looking digital figurines to playable characters

The subject of our first mint was Ninşiku, a shaman character inspired by early human civilizations, of which we distributed 400 unique variants out of a total of 750 (the remaining ones will be available for minting later this year).

Many have praised his appearances and the short backstories about him that we shared on our Twitter, but if you have been anywhere near our Discord community, you probably know that the real value of holding a Ninşiku (or any future Civitas NFT) is the prospect of being able to use him in our Play & Earn online strategy game.

In many single-player games of the 4x strategy genre, the characters come with distinctive traits that influence the gameplay capabilities of the player. Think of bonuses in leadership, improved trading, advantages on the battlefield, and so on. This happens in Civitas too, with the additional benefits of a web3 game: ownership, access to governance, and more.

We haven’t yet revealed the gameplay traits of Ninşiku, which brings me the opportunity for the perfect segue into the next topic: the roadmap.

Civitas Development Roadmap
The roadmap as of August 1, 2022

What’s coming next

The roadmap is a living document made to help people visualize the future events & developments of Civitas, and as such, it gets regularly updated to reflect concluded events and upcoming new ones. While we do our best to keep all of our profiles updated with the latest roadmap, you can always be sure to find the most updated version on the eponymous channel over our Discord server.

At the time of writing this article, the next key event in the current roadmap is the second mint of our first collection of characters. Unlike the first, the second mint will be paid and include new, yet-to-be-revealed characters, as well as the remaining unminted Ninşiku.

This means new whitelist contests are on the way! So keep your notifications on, and follow us and our partners closely. And speaking of partners…

Ethlizard NFT #111
An Ethlizard NFT

Shoutout to the Ethlizards people

I, Error 404, CM of Civitas, want to take the chance to thank the Ehtlizards community personally for their incredible support during the past month. While the initial push came from their founder and Civitas investor, Kieran Warwick, the whole Ethlizards community went above and beyond what was asked of them. They have joined all of our community channels & whitelist contests, spread awareness on their profiles & channels, and many went as far as purchasing our character on the secondary market the same moment they got listed.

The lizard people might exist only in conspiracy theories, but the Ethlizard people are a very real and positive influence in the web3 space.

Community Spotlight

While most of it took place during June, it would be unfair not to mention the community members that participated in the art contest to win a whitelist for our first mint. Over 70 participants joined, and while only 10 of them won, the overall quality was much higher than we’d ever expected, and we had a tough time deciding who to pick as the winner. This is why the pictures you can see below are not from the winners (which you can find on our Discord server) but rather some participants that deserve an honorable mention.

The second part of the spotlight is dedicated to a very active community member: Animositas, also known as Ani. He’s a prolific and talented content creator who has been publishing videos on web3 & GameFi for a few months, and his overview of Civitas impressed our CPO Kent.

The quality of his productions deserves a shoutout, which is why we invite you to visit and subscribe to his YouTube channel.

Final words

As always, I cannot restrain myself from closing the article with a safety warning, especially now that Civitas NFTs are out in the open (sea). The only official collection of Civitas, The Chosen of Civitas, it’s the one you can find at this link. Any other collection, even with the same name, is fake and should be reported to us and the marketplace in which you found it listed.

All of our official links are listed at the bottom of the article as usual.

Take care!
