Phew! The trial card for this year is all done and dusted. I know, I know! January is like a blink of an eye. Time sure passed in an instant. But, even after our trial period has ended, the grind never stops. And before we start the real hustle, let's revisit the events and accomplishments of the previous month.

Art Leaks, Art Leaks, and Art Leaks

Back in December, our community went crazy about "Gustav the Goat." With this success behind, the concept art team decided to continue and keep their animalistic momentum going by creating "Dave the Dodo."

As the buzz around "Dave the Dodo" continued to grow, the team didn't let up and released art leaks of various land items such as the Chert, Flint, and Clay. Each piece showcased the team's attention to detail and ability to bring even inanimate objects to life!

We also got some cute leaks of a sawmill and a stone mine, which will be very important structures in the game.

And one piece that really stood out for me was "Huginn, the Raven." As someone fascinated by mythology, I was immediately drawn to this piece and its symbolism.

Did you know that Huginn was one of Odin's loyal messengers and scouts in Norse Mythology? He was tasked with gathering information from nine realms and symbolizing the power of knowledge and intelligence. Yes, that's right! You can read more about him here: https://skjalden.com/huginn-and-muninn/

It's always a joy to see artists bring their own interpretations to classic myths and legends, and I was truly impressed by our artists' take on this. I can't wait to see what they come up with next!

Community As One

Last month was a special one for the easterners of our community, as many celebrated the Year of the Water Rabbit. And what better way to celebrate it than with a dedicated art piece of a bunny?

And not only that, we took it one step further by inviting our Chinese community on Discord to give a name to this bunny, with the winner getting a special shoutout in the game credits!

I was thrilled to be a part of this process and watch as our community came together to choose a name for our new in-game companion. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with many great suggestions coming in from the community!

In the end, it was Maggie M#0824 who came out on top with her suggestion of "Bonnie." I thought this was a fantastic name for the bunny, capturing its cute and playful nature perfectly. We were also thrilled to see that Maggie M#0824 would be credited in the game for her contribution, which is a fantastic way to reward our dedicated community members!

The community engagement and excitement surrounding this event were truly inspiring, and it feels nice to have been a part of it.

Community & Security

As a celebration of Data Protection Day, we reflected on the past and the importance of staying vigilant in the digital age. Do you remember when someone tried to pose as us, claiming to be the official account, with the intent to scam people? It was a stark reminder of the dangers that exist in the online world and the need to be cautious and aware of such tactics.

It's crucial that we educate ourselves on protecting our private information, and only trust official channels and verified accounts. Scammers are always coming up with new and creative ways to trick us, but we must stay one step ahead and be vigilant.

Let's take the time to educate ourselves and others on the best practices for data protection. By raising awareness and spreading knowledge, we can work together to make the digital world a safer place for everyone.

The Roadmap

But hold up, January isn't just about art leaks and reminders. January was a month filled with exciting developments, but the launch of the 2023 Civitas Development Roadmap was the crowning jewel.

The community had been eagerly anticipating this moment, and it finally arrived. The roadmap was well-received and provided a clear picture of where the project is headed in the coming months. After several weeks of iteration, we put together an actionable plan based on top priorities and realistic deadlines.

The roadmap includes many new things that are set to be released throughout 2023. This gives the community a glimpse of what's in store for them and allows them to get a better understanding of how the project will evolve over time. The team is also committed to keeping the community engaged and informed by regularly sharing updates on the progress of the roadmap.

Overall, the launch of The 2023 Civitas Development Roadmap was a major milestone for the project and its community. I’m confident that this roadmap will help take the project to new heights, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of 2023 has in store!

Final Words

Yep, that was it! January was a quick but busy and productive month, filled with new challenges and opportunities. As we move forward, let’s remember the lessons we learned and the successes we experienced, and continue to work hard towards our goals.

Here’s to a productive and fulfilling February, and to continued growth!
