DozerFriends, we’ve been hearing your comments on the conversion of old items to new items in CryptoDozer 2.0. So now, after the initial launch period, it’s time to look back.

When we set about deciding how to convert items we needed to take into account several factors. New game balance, comparable items, value, benefits received in CryptoDozer 1.0, and of course player sentiment.

Decisions, decisions

With the conversion, no decision was taken lightly. We looked at items in the old game and items in the new game and player benefits from those items already received.

When we looked at the potential conversions several new gameplay aspects of CryptoDozer 2.0 played an important part. Gone were restrictions on things like bag spaces. There were also core changes to just what a doll dropping meant, not only in terms of ETH but in what it meant for gameplay. As well as a greater shift to the long term use case of FancyDolls. We see these as long-lasting assets, moving from game to game, not just with what is available now but any game that comes out in the PlayDapp ecosystem.

We looked at what players had and what they had achieved and the benefits they had from all of this in CryptoDozer 1.0 and then thought how could we recognize previous achievements and transfer over value for some parts of this into 2.0. Some decisions were straightforward.

Item conversion deep dive.

Cookies & Walls

Cookies as a direct carry over made perfect sense, if you had one before then you’d still have one after. Walls, we felt gained more importance in this new version of CryptoDozer. With DozerDolls dropping quicker and in more quantities, it made sense to give you more walls to help you adjust and not lose any DozerDolls, so we doubled any amount a player had.

Levels

Levels and bag spaces were a trickier proposition. In CryptoDozer 2.0 there is no limit to the number of items you can collect. Added to this, in CryptoDozer 1.0 the more bag spaces a player had the more ETH they could potentially exchange, gaining significant value from these purchases in 1.0. Levels too gained players better drops of DozerDolls and chests, again adding to the ETH that a player could make from playing the game.

We took a hard decision, on average players in CryptoDozer 1.0 received benefits in line with what could be expected from these two areas of the game. For levels going into CryptoDozer 2.0, we wanted to recognize that past effort and so issued a token reward. Not as a way to boost back to that specific level but as a way to acknowledge it.

Bag Spaces

For Bag spaces, with no direct comparison and with the benefits received in CryptoDozer 1.0 from purchasing them we took the decision to give an item you can use, again as recognition that you had those spaces.

However, we have heard your thoughts. Currently, CryptoDozer 2.0 has only 3 slots to load FancyDolls, this is obviously an area of the game we could expand on. More slots, more FancyDolls in use the more fun, right?

There are many things left to work out with such a system. What would the gameplay be like if a player loaded an infinite number of a specific Fancy Doll? Would it be fun, break the game, or totally unbalance any NFT trading?

For now, those questions require some serious thought and testing. While we work this out, in terms of balance and in terms of fun, we are committed to recognizing those old levels when we can do so appropriately. The road map is long, but when we get to the end, CryptoDozer 1.0 levels will be recognized.

Keys

We wanted to encourage any unused keys to be used in CryptoDozer 1.0, letting you take the maximum amount of ETH that you could before the direct ETH exchange was closed.

We recognized that not all players would have chests matching the number of keys they had. So we put forth our Roll Up idea, allowing players with over a certain number of any type of key to receive the next one up. We also added to this a smaller conversion for players that did not have that number.

We heard you, and we went back to look at it. Now if you had 1–49 normal Keys we’ve got an additional reward for you. The same is true if you had 1–9 Magic keys.

On top of the cookies previously issued, we have created key conversion packs, for eligible players can choose from.

If you had 1– 49 Normal Keys you can pick between Normal Pack A and Normal Pack B. Both packs add up to over 0.1 worth of ETH — that value of a Magic Key in CryptoDozer 1.0

If you had 1– 9 Magic Keys you can pick between Normal Pack A and Normal Pack B. Both packs add up to over 0.2 worth of ETH — that value of a Rare Key in CryptoDozer 1.0

If you had both 1– 49 Normal Keys and 1–9 Magic Keys you can pick between Normal Pack A and Normal Pack B for both packs.

To claim these packs all you have to do is use the claim form linked below, or scan the QR Code. You’ll need your wallet address so we can verify and your email address so we can contact if anything goes wrong.

We value all the feedback we had and we commit to making gaming experiences as fun and as exciting as possible. As CryptoDozer 2.0 moves forward with new features and new systems we commit to delivering more value to players from our legacy from 1.0 as well as when we launch new games.

After all, our initial players made us what we are today. If you can take your NFTs from new game to new game then why shouldn't that first step be rewarded from new game to new game?
