A Conversation with Henri Esteve

The actor and activist talks about his new role on Grown-ish.

Henri Esteve began his acting journey gracing the stages of New York City, before relocating to LA to pursue television.

He made his small-screen debut in Revenge, portraying the black hat hacker Javier Salgado, and continued on to play Abel in the award-winning Amazon show Homecoming, starring Julia Roberts.

Now, Esteve, an activist himself, can be seen as Javi — a well-educated Cuban Republican activist — on Grown-ish.

Below, Esteve talks about his journey to television, as well as his work advocating for mental health awareness and Latino education and arts.

Can you tell us a bit about your character Javier, on “Grown-ish”?

Javi is a first-generation Cuban-American grad student. He is a passionate political activist and ambitiously working towards a career in politics.

What has been the best part about working with the “Grown-ish” cast?
