IAMA Theatre Company’s latest production, ‘Untitled Baby Play’ — written by Nina Braddock and directed by Katie Lindsay — explores female friendships, motherhood, and the fact that as women, our priorities are as different and diverse as we are.

I had the opportunity to chat with Braddock about how this play came to be, and why it is so important right now.

JULIA STIER: Hi Nina! I’m very excited to be talking with you. Your show looks amazing!

NINA BRADDOCK: Thank you.

JS: I loved reading about the incorporation of you bringing in technology as part of the problem, because it’s so real. And I do feel like we’ve had this technology for so long, and it hasn’t really been explored as much as it could be. So I’m so excited to see how that plays out.

NB: Oh, thank you. Yes, I started working on this play like four or five years ago, I guess. So it’s crazy how much technology has advanced even in that time, and how much more compartmentalized people’s lives feel, and how much friendships are conducted over WhatsApp more and…
