LA Theaters That Offer Equity Points
Theaters that can help you become equity.
At some point in their career, most actors join one of the professional acting unions. For screen actors, that union is SAG-AFTRA. For theatre actors, the union is called Actors Equity Association.
To become equity, you either have to secure an equity contract at an equity theatre, or, you can earn your membership by accumulating equity points, and becoming an EMC — Equity Membership Candidate.
To earn equity points, you have to be hired as a non-union actor at an equity theatre. You can then opt in to the EMC program.
Thanks to former interviewee Shelby Corley, here is a list of theaters in Los Angeles (and beyond) that offer equity points through the EMC program.
PCPA — Pacific Conservatory Theatre
Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts
Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum
