Review: ‘Crossover: a New Pop Musical’

“Rock, country, dance, or soul!”

Crossover the Musical — directed by Amanda Pasquini with an original book and score by Danielle E. Moore — is an upbeat, original musical about the power of collaboration, staying true to yourself, and, of course, music!

Four-Way Tie

Regina (Taylor J. Mitchell), Max (Boris Dansberry), KC (Chelsea Cylinder), and Hallie (Ali Walker) are all vying to be crowned ‘Crossover Champion.’ They are each masters of a different genre of music — soul, dance, rock, and country respectively. So, when a four-way tie occurs between them for the title of Regional Champion, the four musicians decide to band together (literally) to sing their way to the top.

The show starts off strong, with each contestant performing their own solo. Walker as Hallie delivers an especially catchy country tune, and Cylinder as KC stands out with her 80s-eqsue rock anthem.
