We’re delighted to announce partnerships with the British Venture Capital Associate (BVCA), UCL Entrepreneurs (UCLE) and SaaStock.

When we announced the launch of Fund II earlier this year we wrote about the lessons we took from Fund I. By far the most important one, we think, is that:

As a VC, your money is your third most important commodity. #1 is your reputation and #2 is your network. The more value we created for the ecosystem (without asking for anything in return) […] the more we got into winning deals;

At Playfair Capital we have a rich history of giving back to the community through mentorship, thought leadership and sponsorship. And so we’re making a cornerstone of Fund II the continued support of the ecosystem.

Here’s why we’ve partnered with these three organisations:

BVCA

Playfair Capital has officially joined the BVCA, an organisation that exists to connect all of the internal components of both the venture capital and entrepreneurial communities. Its main function is to represent the interests of these communities to the government, regulators, the media, other relevant sections of society.

In particular, we are extremely keen to support one of the BVCA’s core missions of raising awareness of the startup and VC industries, with a view to widening access for individuals from backgrounds that are currently underrepresented.

UCLE

We are supporting and sponsoring the UCL Entrepreneurs, a student entrepreneurship society, for the 2019/20 academic year. We’ve committed to helping them organise events on campus and will continue to support in any other way possible.

Joe Thornton is looking forward to running his session on “careers in VC” again this year for UCLE’s Bloomsbury Ventures, a six-week program of lectures and workshops that take a deep dive into the world of venture capital.

SaaStock

This year we’re getting involved with SaaStock through their inaugural Ambassador Partnership. If you didn’t know, SaaStock is Europe’s largest SaaS conference and a must-attend for any investor interested in this model. We really believe in the SaaS community they are building in Europe and the value their events bring to SaaS startups.

If you’re a founder, check out their critically-acclaimed Startup Program at SaaStock19 in October in Dublin (we’ll be there so come say hi as well). The program is designed to help companies:

  • Find new customers and investors — An expo booth in front 4000+ SaaS Leaders
  • Get Investment — Featured access to over 450 Top Tier SaaS Founders and Execs
  • Network with SaaS Leaders — 83% of SaaS attendees are Founders and Execs
  • Meet your Targets — 91% of our partners received Return on Objectives from SaaStock last year
  • Learn from the experts — Masterclasses on the Startup Day with SaaS Rockstars

If you’re a founder who wants to find out more, you can apply here (it takes 45 seconds!).

If you want to find out more about Playfair’s expanding partnerships in the VC and startup communities, or if have a suggestion for future partnerships, drop us a tweet @playfaircapital.
