This is the Index Article that introduces our new Medium series, entitled “The Playfold Economy”, which will explore the technological, financial and sociological principles behind the platform for creative engagement we are bringing to market. This series will also serve as the launchpad to announce the Playfold STO and Bounty Program, so bookmark it and don’t miss the latest releases!
The recollection of our shared memories, our culture, styles, colours, values and progress. Fun, catharsis, passion. Shutting your brain off for a minute, or exercising it with philosophical questions. These are the purposes that art fulfils. It brings us together, it makes our lives more beautiful, and exposes who we are.
We have been creating and sharing art since the beginning of time, and as we discussed in the previous series, Playfold represents the next step in the long lineage of cultural evolution. The next chapter in a story full of innovations, diversions, great strokes of genius and small changes.
These evolutions, however, have not happened in isolation. As art evolves, so does the business that shapes it. As does the supply chain technology that exists to distribute it. The folds in communication that bring us closer together.
At Playfold, Folds are digital media files uploaded to the blockchain.
What began with telegram wires to phone lines, cable to become internet, this series of tubes is getting an upgrade.
Distributed ledgers and blockchain technology, present a balance of data storage, trust and privacy which we are only seeing the early, awkward adolescence begin to take shape as cryptocurrency.
Playfold is here to provide the means to ownership in this new technology, to eliminate the barriers for creators to pursue their creations.
Blockchain is the means to eliminate barriers to economic and geographic access between creators and patrons of the arts.
Playfold’s creative network is driven by a utility token, Talent or $TLNT.
Patrons sponsor challenges and gig smart contracts called Activities using TLNT;
Creators get paid in TLNT and redeem it for local or desired cryptocurrencies.
It’s important to remember Rome wasn’t built in a day. Neither are economies or token ecosystems. Utility tokens like Talent (TLNT) eliminate the complexity of currencies and eliminate the legal confluence of securities, to focus on building value.
Tokens and cryptocurrency are abstract concepts based on the value of real communities and social networks.
Utility tokens function as loyalty points with a business, credit card rewards and gift cards for (creative) businesses and their partners.
Utility tokens eliminate the complexity of an entire currency, regulation, funds and security structures to provide a simple model.
TLNT utility tokens are used to access the Playfold protocol, payment for creators, rewards and value staked in the media files on the blockchain.
This way TLNT is easy to understand as coins are earned for participating in the Activity contract to create and experience Folds through Instruments (applications).
Playfold provides the trust in an the physical and digital creative space:
