The woman came from the rib

So that she may stand alongside,

Man, that is, not all day beside some crib.

Unless, that’s where she wants to be.

Don’t tell her who to be.

The woman came from the rib

Because she is strong like bone.

And yes it is true that bones can be broken,

But they are quick to repair and to heal on their own.

This is for you, woman,

To acknowledge where you come from.

For you to stand up to a man,

As he flips through verses with aplomb.

Refer him to the Genesis,

So that he may be reminded,

that man came from dust.
