Yesterday, EA published their Q1 2020 financial results, and it once again proved to be an interesting overall outcome in digital game sales across all platforms. Posting net revenues of $1.2 billion, just up from $1.1 billion during the same quarter last year, we saw that EA’s digital sales are up 7% year-over-year, and 47% of its total unit sales now digital across all games. Mobile growth is down 17% year-over-year to $122 million in net bookings.

EA’s been working and promoting their subscription services for some time now, a long with the newly released EA Access for PlayStation 4 that allows for a 10% discount on digital game purchases. The company has been silent on the streaming front since last October when they revealed Project Atlas, a cloud-gaming project similar to Google Stadia.

“We had a strong start to FY20, bringing rich new experiences to our growing communities for Apex Legends, EA SPORTS, The Sims and more,” said CEO Andrew Wilson. “From great new games to live services with longevity, subscriptions on more platforms and competitive gaming for more franchises, we’re pushing to lead with innovation, quality and choice for our players.”

In Q2, we’re expected to see FIFA 20, Madden NFL 20, NHL 20, and Sea of Solitude, while Q3 will have a new Need for Speed title, a new Plants vs Zombies title, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and NBA Live 20 from the company.

Nothing has yet been announced for Q4.
