What if we changed the world and gave the power back to the players? That’s our mission. Our video games are about empowering players and adding up all their actions, no matter how simple they are, to have a real and tangible impact on the gaming experience but also on society and the environment!
Even though human beings are torn apart by differences, we can point out at least two lasting and driving patterns across times and geographies: we are creatures of leisure (be it to feast, hunt, and dance, or to watch movies and play video games) and we are driven by wealth (in all its forms — financial, recognition, power …), which will enable us to have more leisure (or comfort). Put it differently, aren’t we in an incentive loop designed to boost our hobbies? Looks like it. The increase in well-being in certain countries looks tightly correlated to the increase in the number of gamers worldwide. From 2 billion in 2015, we grew to 2.8 billion this year. And as we have more disposable income, revenues have skyrocketed over the past years.
Let’s face it, we easily get dragged into playing and entertaining on one hand, and on the other, automatization increases overall productivity at the expense of jobs. Is it bad? Well, if we don’t change some models, it will. If we do, we will be the luckiest generation, by far.
Time to do what we are wired to enjoy
New opportunities to redefine what leisure is and means are appearing. PlayTiX is one of them. Consider our need to spent time on enjoyable activities. It has always been impeded by the necessity to spend time productively in order to free time for hobbies. PlayTiX’s mission is to introduce video gaming as a medium of sense and advancement. Our games empower players and add up any teeny tiny actions to have an impact both on the player experience and on the world.
In other words, enjoyable activities can now have new additional purposes, mostly the privilege of so-called “productive activities”. Now, anything can be productive.
When I’m an adult, I want to be an e-sport player
E-sport is booming and cash prizes are now in the millions for the most well-known games. Similar to sport, e-sport may turn into a “productive” activity from a certain stage. Who’s voicing soccer players such as Messi or Ronaldo lost time practicing their shoot? With the boost of players and revenues in video games, superstars such as Tyler Blevins earn several million a year. Lost of time? I don’t think so, but what about the other billions who are wired to enjoy playing video games? Not anymore because you can play and make a difference on PlayTiX’s games.
So, what is PlayTiX?
PlayTiX is what we call a world of ethical games, enjoyable from our unique platform but also potentially available on other platforms (that’s up to the developer of the game).
Why are games ethical? For two reasons:
- It gives back to players. Unlike most games currently available, when you play and buy something in our games, you actually own something. This means you have ownership of part of the game. We give something in exchange, on top of the entertaining experience. What you do with it is your call. But what is unique can be scarce, and what is scarce can have value. If it’s a game item and you evolve it correctly, it can increase in value. This can yield some benefits, even though you’re not a professional e-sport player. Video gaming giving back to everyone.
- According to the actions and purchases performed in our games, you will contribute to wider causes. Each time, you’ll have a choice, planting trees? Buying books or meals? Cleaning 100 liters of water? You choose how you want your time to be meaningful. We work on giving you back the results of your actions, visually so you know what happens.
PlayTiX is a unique platform where communities will spend the time they would have spent for nothing in return otherwise. Because machines are spending more time (and more efficiently) building cars and airplanes, we can focus on other parts of our lives such as well-being, climate emergencies, or inequalities.
