In the age of influencers and narcissistic personality disorder, the word ego has developed a bad reputation; but it isn’t always a negative thing.

A study housed by the American Psychological Association found that “healthy doses of ego directly feed into your willpower, which means, it might help you stick to a diet or focus on a major project.”

A healthy ego can also give you confidence during anxious or difficult times.

But what is a healthy ego?

Ego is defined as a person’s sense of self-esteem or self-importance. When your ego is healthy you believe in your value which translates to higher self-esteem.

Here are some of the sexual benefits of a healthy ego:

  • You are more likely to advocate for your needs
  • You are more likely to stick to your boundaries
  • You can value the single life. It’s a time to hang out with yourself, prioritize your pleasure, and work on yourself.
  • You can walk away from sex that feels disempowering
  • You enjoy looking in the mirror and wearing sexy clothing
  • You feel like you have permission to enjoy…
