Here is our introduction and testimonial video of Pledgecamp advisor, Liam Casey — Founder and CEO of PCH International, which designs custom manufacturing solutions for Fortune 500 and startup companies. Since founding PCH in 1996, Casey has grown the company to over $900M in revenues in 2013. The company has been a huge advocate and supporter of startup hardware companies, such as LittleBits, Cue, Ringly, Drop, Navdy and Blaze, among many others.
When we look at companies for Highway 1, we always look at the team first and then we look at the product second. So, it is the team, it is the people, and it their ability to execute. That’s what’s always at the top of our agenda. COmpanies have to be dynamic, have to be nimble. In today’s world of hardware, change is happening really fast and you have to be able to iterate and change.
I think the team at Podo, that’s probably one of the things they’ve been really good at. To make an idea a game-changing idea, you have to be able to execute it and your team must stick to the vision and execute on that idea. you need a team that’s really strong and focused and that stick together and that actually stick to the plan. Also, realized that if they need to change, they can all change together.
I think having a clear purpose is probably one of the biggest things that are needed for a game-changing team. Another aspect of what we look for in teams is a one that can think, work, and operate globally. I think The team at Podo is pretty dynamic at that. They cover Asia, here in the US, and I think they’re pretty dynamic at that. We’re hugely excited about where hardware is. There’s a lot of nervousness amongst many people in the industry, but for us, we’re encouraged because we understand. We’ve been at this for 22 years. We understand the challenges, we understand what’s required to actually help these companies to scale and to ensure they do get to be able to achieve their vision.
