Swift’s CEO, Javier Perez Tasso, said at the World Economic Forum that the business intends to contribute to the development, implementation, and integration of CBDCs and cross-border CBDCs.
Swift is able to connect the CBDCs of any nation with those of other nations as well as blockchain-based payment systems, according to the company’s chief executive. Consequently, integrating with Swift will facilitate the global expansion of CBDCs introduced by a given government.
BIS and Swift
Swift’s CEO cited the company’s cooperation with the Bank for International Settlement (BIS) as evidence that the company has established a more transparent and secure payment system for its consumers. For the development of a strong and inclusive financial infrastructure, cooperation is required, and for bridging initiatives such as CBDCs, partnership is essential.
Additionally, he emphasized that more than fifty percent of payments processed via the Swift network, which has four billion accounts, are settled in less than five minutes.
