Just Cause 4 is one of the most anticipated games of the year is one that has quite literally flew under the radar since before its last release just over 3 years ago. After taking in community feedback on Just Cause 3, the development team at Avalanche Studios, came back in a big way with their high-flying hitman, Rico Rodriguez. Rico’s role in Just Cause 3 was to overthrow a dictatorship on a small island and give power pack to the people. Just Cause 4 has Rico jumping into a fictional South American country called Solis to combat the world’s most powerful private army. To tackle this task, Rico has a ton of cool weapons, tools, and tech that he uses to stymie his enemies and bring order back to the people. Let’s check out some of the hottest features in Just Cause 4 that will make standing in the hour-long line during the holiday rush at your local Gamestop well worth it to grab this title.

Open World Map

The Just Cause community has been clamoring for a larger map and boy did they get it. The Just Cause 4, features the largest open world map in series history, featuring a variety of unique set pieces from rainforests to commercial cities to caves to temples to deserts to dense pockets of wilderness. Solis is divided into four distinct biomes that feature interactive elements across the huge 1024 square kilometer playable area. The developers are Avalanche Studios have noted that Just Cause 4 features the “best open-world sandbox ever” and they ain’t lying, yo.

Weather System

One of the subtler, yet super bad ass feature in Just Cause 4 is the weather system. If you thought flying through the air dodging bullets was rough, try doing that while dodging a tornado. Yea. Not so tough now, are ya? These tremendous weather spectacles add an extra element of intrigue to dropping in on unsuspecting victims to bomb them to Timbuktu. You can also traverse through blizzards, sandstorms, lightning storms, and more. Each weather system is tied to a certain biome, so you won’t endure a tornado and blizzard at the same time.

Customizable Weapons

Since the days of being able to name your Final Fantasy VII characters whatever the hell you pleased, gamers have been craving the option to customize whatever they can to improve their gameplay experience (i.e. Soul Calibur 6). That notion is carried on in Just Cause 4. First, Rico’s grappling hook can be customized with tethers and air lifters. You can even release balloons into the air and grapple them when you’re not in a grapple-friendly area like an enemy stronghold. If you’re going to do this, you better plan to come in shooting with custom ammunition for your weapon that is set for destruction. Once you unleash your destructo-ammunition, it’s only a matter of time before pandemonium is unleashed. When it does, make sure to get your popcorn ready and give props to the devs that put in the plethora of hours to make this excessively awesome adventure.
