Laying the Foundations for a Successful Blockchain Gaming Platform
An ecosystem recap before we head into the second half of 2022
Over the last few months, our team has been working hard to cement the foundations of the Plodding Isles gaming ecosystem. You may have read the Plodding Isles whitepaper, heard about our seed round, or seen announcements about our Dubloon token and NFTs, so we’ll be using this blog as a platform to keep you informed about recent developments both within our own ecosystem and in the wider world of blockchain, NFTs and cryptocurrency.
Earlier in the year, we announced several exciting developments for our platform; the announcement of Plodding Isles: Mini, the official partnership between Plodding Isles and Polygon Studios and significant updates and improvements to our token structure and staking plans in our Digital Whitepaper.
Since then, there’s been a heavy focus on the groundwork required to establish a product fitting of our vision for the future of blockchain gaming.
Legal
We’ve been working hard with our legal counsel to develop a utility token that adheres to the stringent rules of the Financial Conduct Authority (the financial regulatory body that governs our operational jurisdiction) and importantly, adheres to a set of overarching standards that largely allow us to operate our token, games and platform in a permissible manner across the majority of the world.
We’ve opted for a no-tolerance approach to ambiguity on this front, and we’re comfortable in knowing that the time and resources focused on obtaining our legal grounding will set us in good stead for the future of blockchain gaming.
The outcome of this work is a utility token that steers clear from the criteria that international regulatory bodies use to designate security tokens, allowing us to operate safely and — in future — list Dubloon Token on major exchanges with the legal framework they require.
Platform Changes
In our recent whitepaper changes, we’ve altered certain elements of our proposed ecosystem format to streamline use for both our players and our token & NFT holders. Changes over recent weeks and months include:
- xDUB Replacement: xDUB was originally a utility token that we planned to distribute as a Dubloon (DUB) staking reward, which would be tradeable and offer governance power to holders. We’ve opted to remove xDUB for now — our current staking format is more straightforward and of course, still offers governance input for stakers.
- Minigame: Naturally, many of our followers will be familar with the announcement of Plodding Isles: Mini, but it’s important to emphasise its importance in the ecosystem. We brought forward the idea of Plodding Isles: Mini as a more effective and more engaging platform to develop and launch in a blockchain ecosystem that is already saturated with DEXs in mid-2022.
- Plodswap Postponement: We’re focusing our initial development resources into Plodding Isles: Mini, followed by our main Plodding Isles game. We plan to revisit PlodSwap at a later date, once we have established successful blockchain games and with the support and approval of the revelevant regulatory bodies; a process that takes a considerable length of time, but is sadly missing from many decentralized exchange platforms.
We’ve also refined and developed our ecosystem’s flow of value, with an emphasis on stability and maximizing Dubloon’s flow:
Letter of Marque Launch
We’re thrilled that our presale for our latest collectible artwork NFT collection, Letter of Marque, sold out almost instantly. As with all our collections, it’s available on the Polygon blockchain.
In addition to being collectibles, our Letters of Marque have some additional features, such as exclusive game beta access and in-game staking bonuses.

Next Steps
Our next steps are important, and we’re thrilled to be at this stage of the journey. Through our seed round fundraising, we’ll be wrapping up our pre-development of Plodding Isles: Mini and heading into development of the title, through which we’ll have updates and demos to share with our community.
Economy simulations are also hugely important to us. We plan to go the extra mile on Dubloon Token and our ecosystem’s long-term stability and fine tune our input/reward mechanics for both Plodding Isles: Mini and the full Plodding Isles game.
Dubloon’s private and public sale dates are yet to be announced. We’re in a unique spot right now, and we plan to launch strategically to weather market conditions and release only once Plodding Isles: Mini is ready for its full public launch.
