Finsurtech Pitch Event after report
Plug and Play Japan is running an acceleration program from June to September focusing on four themes, including X-Tech “Fintech” and “Insurtech”.
We held a Finsurtech (combination of Fintech and Insurtech)pitch event when Batch1 overseas startups in Fintech and Insurtech gathered in Japan. Pitches were made by overseas startups and panel discussions of corporate partners were carried out regarding the future of Finsurtech.
At the keynote session, Mr. Yutaka Soejima from Bank of Japan and Mr. Takashi Hara from Nikkei BP, talked about the maturity of the Japanese Fintech market and the difference between Japan and overseas Fintech etc.
Next, we held a Fintech panel discussion. Three of our partners (below) took to the stage and discussed how each company is involved in Fintech and how they think Fintech technology will penetrate and change society in five years.

At the Insurtech panel discussion, three of our partner companies talked about the sectors they are trying to apply Insurtech in each company, how they view the Insurtech market in Japan and the conditions that are necessary for the implementation of Insurtech in Japan.

The event was a great success with more than 100 people participating and networking. Fintech is growing as a pioneer of X-Tech and Insurtech is gradually beginning to show excitement in Japan. Together with selected startups and our partners, we will further boost the innovation of these two themes!
In Batch 1 to be held until September, we will continue to carry out many events. On September 5th and 6th, we will hold a DEMO DAY where Batch1 startups and partners present their result of 3 month program of Batch1. Please make use of these opportunities to meet our startups and partners!
