PL^G and Centrality’s developer portals are live!

Each portal supports a different need in the market for blockchain solutions, so here’s how to get your head around which is right for you and what each portal does;

PL^G targets enterprise businesses who have a need for their own blockchain environments, and sets these organisations up for success through their Toolkit. Whereas Centrality’s portal enables developers, start-ups, and small businesses to access the resources they need to build decentralised applications (DApps).

The PL^G portal, and toolkit, provide developers with open source SDK’s and resources that can be used to create their own public, consortium or hybrid blockchain networks. Our toolkit is a starter kit with everything you need to build your own blockchain.

Centrality’s blockchain network CENNZnet focuses on providing the tools to build applications (DApps) on the blockchain. CENNZnet is the first of many networks to be built on PL^G, CENNZnet is #poweredbyplug.

The PL^G Toolkit and our technology integrate with existing legacy systems, complementing the systems which businesses may already have in place. We’ve done this to make it easy to incorporate a blockchain solution into your tech stack, without the need to ditch legacy systems.

PL^G and Centrality are core contributors to Substrate and we are collaborating with them to develop the Substrate code base further. Given that, it made sense for us to integrate the PL^G Toolkit with Substrate’s exciting new framework. We believe this provides a much stronger foundation for PL^G, its community and its ecosystem. The end result has allowed us to create a much more powerful set of tools for blockchain developers.

Substrate is built using Web Assembly (WASM for short) and allows us to stay true to our core value propositions of flexibility, world-class developer support, popular languages for programming and availability of plug-in modules for your chain. You can learn more about our relationship with Substrate here.

Unlike other blockchain platforms, which face a major challenge of onboarding users, Centrality and PL^G have existing users. From day one, we have an existing network of 400,000 users. Some of the first users of PL^G developer portal, in addition to the Centrality network CENNZnet, will be students at Auckland University of Technology and teams that recently graduated from the Centrality Accelerator programme.

What’s Next?

The launch of the PL^G Developer Portal meets PHASE ONE outlined in our roadmap below, and is a further step towards completing our vision of a blockchain-enabled future.

PL^G Roadmap

We’re entering PHASE TWO; onboarding initial PL^G networks, supporting them with their development and launching these new networks to market.

At the same time we’re continuing to develop and evolve our existing PL^G Toolkit and introducing more resources with further functionality. New resources to come in our toolkit include; Node, Permissions Framework and Block Explorer.

But most importantly, with our first release, we’ll be taking the feedback from you and optimising our platform. If you’ve got a question, or have noticed something that’s not working let us know at support@plug.team or fill out our feedback survey.

This is an exciting step towards our full network, PL^Gnet, going live later this year and our journey to interoperability.
