Plug 0.4.6 — House Cleanup 🧹 Loading & Asset Refreshing, Clock Error, and More Improvements! 💪

A “fixes, and improvements” update is incoming! We’re releasing Plug 0.4.6, a UI/UX polishing-oriented update to the extension!
Before moving up with new awesome features coming on the horizon, we wanted to take a break to sit down, crack our knuckles, and take a moment to review many important pieces of Plug’s core code to tighten them up, solve known issues users have been reported, and overall smoothen up the wallet’s experience so that loading animations and asset refreshes run as perfectly as possible!

Improvements and Fixes 🧰
Clock Error - Affected Loading of ICP Balances
Fixed! We switched our ICP integration to utilize the Rosetta API to avoid the issue where users who had their computer's clock set to the wrong time caused their ICP balance not to load on Plug.
This is because, when “talking” to the Internet Computer, the IC has set expiration times for the calls/updates anyone makes and uses the device’s clock as a reference. If the device’s clock is wrong, then the call is deemed “expired”. If you try to interact with canisters or other IC apps, you’ll experience the same issue.
This is native to the IC’s security design at the moment and we’ll continue to upgrade the UI/UX to prevent it from affecting users, reduce it, and inform the user and guide them towards addressing it (as easy as setting your computer’s clock to auto!). We’ve circumvented the issue for ICP, but it can still affect how your balance for other tokens load (XTC, WICP for example).
Assets Refreshes & New Refresh Button
We’ve also improved how token and NFT balances are refreshed. They will behave more consistently and update/load more smoothly now, but we’ve also added a Refresh Wallet button in the Plug menu! If you want to force a refresh, you can always do so using that from now on.
We also have new loading animations for NFTs, that procedurally load now giving a better look to the NFT tab overall when you receive new ones or transfer them away!
Activity Tab Fixes & Other Minor Adjustments!
Last but not least, we fixed minor inconsistencies in Plug’s integration with CAP that caused some events to not show at times; and a resolution bug when connecting to IC apps that caused the confirmation/rejection buttons not to show properly.
