Q2 was an action-packed one for Plug and saw our team deliver key features and updates.

With a smoother experience constantly in mind, we started the quarter by announcing the approval of our iOS mobile app to the App Store. We also added contact syncing via DAB and seamless account switching between dApps. Before the recent launch of the Android mobile app, we ended Q2 by releasing a new NFT tab to make room for a new suite of assets tailored to GameFi.

Q2 was quite the ride for Plug — stay tuned till the end of this blog for some juicy Q3 spoilers!

🎉 Official iOS Release

At the beginning of the quarter, we followed up on our Plug Mobile iOS beta launch by getting approved to the App Store. Users can now enjoy most of the Plug extension functionalities directly on their phones and confirm any transactions on the go.

Unlike the Beta App, the official release excluded the NFT tab or any NFT functionalities due to restrictions imposed by Apple regarding NFT-related transactions. As such, users can only hold, send, and view Internet Computer Tokens directly in-app, as well as save and use contacts in an address book, view transactions in the activity tab, and log in via FaceID or TouchID.

You can download Plug Mobile for iOS here, if you haven’t already done so.

🔄 Switch & Sync

After continuous requests from our community, we finally delivered and brought automatic contact syncing to Plug via DAB.

With DAB’s latest on-chain private address book release, users were able to manage a private contact list across dApps. It only seemed natural to integrate this with Plug so all of a user’s existing contacts would automatically be synced across all of their devices.

But, we didn’t stop there! 🔥 We also made automated account switching across dApps a reality.

No need to accept new whitelist pop-ups every time you switch your wallet account anymore. Plug will now simply check to see if you are connected to a dApp and prompt you to add whitelist permissions to the account that you are switching to (if not already connected to the dApp).

📱 NFT Makeover

We also brought a needed redesign to Plug’s NFT tab.

We believe that NFTs will outgrow JPEGs and represent more complex collections such as GameFi elements. As such, users can now more clearly organize their assets based on the game they played, its collections, and its sub-collections.

Among many other ICNS related updates to Plug, users can now also see their ICNS names as NFTs 🎉

🗺 Our Q3 Roadmap

With our recent Android mobile app release, we’ve gotten closer to our mission to make Plug accessible everywhere, whether on mobile or on desktop, and will continue to bring exciting updates for both in the next quarter!

Mobile

We are currently focusing on integrating WalletConnect with Plug Mobile. This way, users can access dApps and authenticate their identity directly from their Plug Mobile app.

Our team is also working on a notification system.

Extension

Our upcoming release will bring Network Selection capabilities to the Plug browser extension, allowing you connect your Plug extension to use a local replica of the IC, instead of just the IC mainnet.

Additionally on our roadmap is to integrate with Ledger so that you can access your assets as securely as possible through Plug via a hardware wallet.

Lastly, our team will be focusing on a deeper integration with Sonic to enable token swaps directly within Plug. This will be accompanied by a miniature version of Sonic Analytics inside of Plug and will offer detailed in-wallet transaction information.
