Plum is committed to the development of our staff.

We also take innovation seriously, and we demonstrate this through continued investment in making Plum better for our customers.

Making financial actions easier through automation requires fresh thinking, so we’ve never been afraid to challenge the established way of doing things.

And, with that in mind, we’ve decided to implement a new way to promote the creation and implementation of imaginative ideas 🌱

Welcome to Plum MAKE_IT. Our first ‘hackathon’.

What’s the purpose of MAKE_IT?

We want to empower our teams, not just within the immediate parameters of their roles, but to affect all areas of the business.

The way we cultivate and execute ideas is crucial to the long-term success of Plum, so facilitating a culture that encourages this is clearly something we’re keen to nail!

How does MAKE_IT work?

MAKE_IT is a company-wide, two-day event that focuses on improving the quality of our customer experience.

Obviously, we still need to keep things running smoothly, so we’ve set up our customer support and operations to ensure sufficient coverage. But we’re trying to clear calendars where possible to give people space to think, collaborate and focus.

Although we’ve used a techie term to describe our event, this hackathon is open to everyone and non-technical ideas are actively encouraged.

There’s no pressure, but we’re keen to involve anybody who feels they have something to contribute, no matter what their role, level of experience or location. No coding knowledge required 🤓

The hope is that by allowing our team the opportunity to explore ideas outside of their day-to-day role, we can benefit from fresh perspectives that may well result in us identifying better ways of doing things.

Additional motivation will be provided in the form of swag and awards based on categories like business and customer benefit.

At the end of the event, we’ll be looking for demonstrations of completed work, rather than presentations or talks. The purpose of MAKE_IT is to see what change we can set into action, within the available time.

If that all sounds like a bit of you… perhaps you should consider working for Plum! We’re currently looking for passionate people to join our mission. Check out the open positions to see how you can get involved.
