Plural: Who we are, mission and vision

In our previous newsletter, a brief history of Plural, we told you all about how Plural came about, and how the team got together, but what is Plural, what do we aim to do, what do we want to achieve?

In essence, Plural is a web3 insurance provider. We combine DeFi and insurance, we manage risk so you don’t have to manage it all by yourself. We know insurance may not be as exciting as other projects within the web3 space, but here’s no doubt it’s needed.

With nearly $5 billion lost in hacks, scams, and exploits, the Web3 ecosystem needs resilience now more than ever. That’s why we’re here — to offer a reliable, trustworthy insurance solution that works where it matters most — starting with your NFTs.

We say starting, because that’s definitely not where we aim to end. There’s many potential use cases for Web3 insurance, and we plan to tackle them.

What’s the Plural Ecosystem?

The Plural Ecosystem is a symbiosis between Plural DAO, a decentralized member governed organization that provides insurance underwriting capacity, and Plural DATA, a privately held company responsible for insurance product development and claims management.

What do we believe in?

Web3 is for the visionaries, the innovators, the first movers who look beyond the horizon and dare to see the extraordinary. Through ups and downs, wins and losses: We learned. We made mistakes. We made friends. We found community.

To us, Web3 is more than just a movement; it’s our way of life. It’s in our blood and in our bones. It isn’t a culture, it’s our culture.

Last year — 2022, was a wake up call. Greed and centralized failings left us with scars we won’t soon forget; many of us were rekt. Yet, we’re still here, undaunted, knowing we must forge a path towards collective resilience.

We are not followers resting in the comfort of the past. We are change makers, charge carriers and rain bringers: Willing to push limits, carrying a torch of progress, with the tenacity to challenge the present, and the wisdom to protect the future.

This is the heart of Web3. It’s time to reclaim our culture. It’s time to make Web3 resilient.
