Keep reading. This will make sense.

Pardon the @channel, but we have a crush on Slack. It’s become part of our company culture. Communication, camaraderie, custom emoji—these are the essentials of life at Pluralsight.

As we start a new year and resolve to not create one. more. channel., we thought we’d look back at the best (and weirdest) channels at Pluralsight in 2017.

#random: If your Slack instance has no random channel, the bad guys win. Love a foreign music video? Thinking about buying solar panels? Want to complain about daylight savings? These are all things that have nothing to do with work and these are all things that belong in this channel.

#starwars: If nerdy companionship you seek, find it in this channel you will. Here we debate the intelligence of Porgs and share memes. Lots of memes. If you haven’t seen the latest episode, be sure to avoid #starwars-spoilers.

#other-peoples-pets: This is a great place to see all the non-human friends of your coworkers. Don’t worry too much about the title - you’re welcome to post pictures of your own pet. Warm fuzzies guaranteed.

#other-peoples-plants: Similar to other peoples pets, but the companions in these pictures don’t bark back.

#other-peoples-pants: Real channel. Real animosity toward jorts.

#blockchain-and-crypto: There’s no better place to lament the fact that you once “paid” $12,000—or was it $19,000?—for a pizza. In this channel we try (fairly unsuccessfully) to predict the rise and fall of various cryptocurrencies. See also: #cryptomaniacs.

#everything-is-fine: For when everything is not fine.

#dank-memes: The black hole in the center of the galaxy where Reddit overflows into Pluralsight.

#lets-rock: For those coworkers about to rock, we salute you. Our local music scene sees big stars, indie acts and even a few *almost famous* on-staff musicians rockin’ out on the weekends.

#hot-dogs-or-legs: A channel to solve the world's #1 conundrum. Are they hot dogs? Or are they legs?

And finally…

#toomanychannels: If there are too many channels, the solution is obviously another channel to discuss it.

Have a favorite channel at work? We’re always looking for Slack inspo. Happy typing in 2018!
