In honor of National Women’s Small Business Month and Pluribus Digital being certified as a Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) by the Small Business Administration and the Women’s Enterprise Business National Council, we asked our employees what it meant to them to work for a WOSB.

Recent new hires have indicated that Pluribus Digital being a WOSB was an important factor in their decision to engage in our interview process and join the company. Being woman owned helps attract and retain talent by showcasing the strength that comes from having women and diversity in leadership, especially in tech .

“You truly feel a sense of inclusion and equity amongst the team. I am empowered and brought into the conversation more frequently.”

“Decision-making varies at any company — but I do feel that being woman-owned allows for multiple views to be factored into decisions, and I feel more comfortable speaking up and sharing my thoughts on key decisions.”

Being a WOSB is also key to our strategic growth as a company, as the federal government’s goal is to award at least 5% of all federal contracting dollars to woman-owned small businesses each year. As one of 6 woman-owned companies in the Digital Service Coalition, we are excited to connect with federal agencies in meeting their needs with digital services transformation.

We believe diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging leads to high performing teams that deliver better software, especially when products are intended for access to public services. With our change in leadership, we have taken the following steps to attract and support a thriving community of talented technologists:

  • Rebranded our name to better reflect who we are and where we are going in our support of public missions
  • Hire more women and minorities historically underrepresented in tech
  • Introduced and follow our roadmap to social justice
  • Invested in employee growth through professional development
  • Engage our communities with the launch of an employee donation matching program
  • Offer DEI training
  • Offer paid parental leave
  • Launched an employee leadership program and other communities of practice
  • Transitioned to an almost fully remote culture with flexibility built into work schedules

We are incredibly proud to be woman owned and look forward to the challenges we will solve together. If you are interested in working with Pluribus Digital as a customer, contact contracts@pluribusdigital.com.
