Social media comes into the world as a very fascinating thing, because Mark Zuckerberg comes with this very fascinating idea to connect the whole world.

Coming to the point, is social media destroying you, and if yes then how? On what basis social media destroys you.

An average person spends around 6 to 7 hours a day on devices such as phone, tab or laptop, after this 2020 pandemic, and this lockdown thing people are even more addictive than ever before.

And when I am saying that people spend there 6 to seven hours on digital devices it means in social media, Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms.

If a person uses social media to show his talent or to grab something important from it, then it is really good to use social media but, people are living in a pseudo-reality.

Actually, the first thing a person should decide is to check that, he needs social media or not, if you are a business owner that is connected to his costumers on social media then, it is important for you to use it.

But, if you are an entrepreneur who is just following and liking the post of different pages containing motivational quote then, it is definitely not important for you.

Each and every single thing in social media is presented to you like it is important for you but trust me it’s not. You have to decide for yourself that you need it or not.

Attention span is one of the most important factors that affect our daily life.

And it is very shocking to know that social media is one of the most important factors in decreasing our attention span. The attention span of humans is decreasing every single day, peoples are not able to focus on a single task for a long time. We started judging things very quickly, this thing is boring and this thing is interesting.

There is a simple reason behind that. There is a lot of things that entertain us,

we have YouTube to watch videos,

Facebook to see other people’s post and like them, appreciate them and we can get people’s appreciation too, so this is also a way to get entertained.

we have Instagram where thousands of bikini models showing their body.

we have a lot of entertainment sources today.

This all things giving us a higher amount of dopamine stimulation, these all things are releasing a really high amount of dopamine in our mind.

Since it is very easy to be in a higher state of dopamine stimulation, so most of our time in a day we spend in the higher stimulation state of dopamine, and then, when we try to do something like reading or studying that is quite boring things, means that gives us less amount of dopamine in our mind, then our mind tries to get rid of these things. our attention shifts too quickly when our phone rings or we start feeling sleepy.

Because these things have the lowest stimulation of dopamine.

SOCIAL MEDIA IS REALLY ADDICTIVE?

Psychologists work really hard to make social media more addictive,

when our mind got these doses of dopamine multiple times a day, every day. Then we become addicted to social media.

Sometime when we do not get a notification for a long time, then we tend to open our phone screen and seek some dopamine booster.

To avoid this addiction we can turn off the social media notification and can restrict ourselves to open social media, by uninstalling the app and using weird passwords on social media app.
