Digital Marketing involves the usage of the internet in any way for marketing purposes. In this article, we’ll learn about the various types of digital marketing. Although its a vast concept but here are the eight main types of digital marketing that are most important in the digital world.

1. Content Marketing

It is a technique of creating and distributing the relevant content online in order to promote a brand and to stir public interest. The content being created such as Videos, blogs or posts may or may not promote a brand directly. The main motive is to stir public interest and to hit the nerve for the intended audience. The social media handlers of big organizations are putting the utmost efforts and creativity even in a single tweet. Although that single tweet contains the power to stir the whole twitter and the tweeters. Recently Zomato, Amazon and our very favorite, Netflix are tweeting some noteworthy tweets. Well, they know how to attract the youth’s attention.

In the era of the minimalistic way of living, large billboards can be easily ignored but a social media blast reaches every part of the world. So now you know, good content is the key to

good marketing, it promotes itself and makes its own way to the audience.

2. Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization is a process of improving a website ranking in maximum search results. In simple words, when we search for “how to make pasta” on Google, it shows the following results.

These are the unpaid results and are arranged or ranked according to their relevance to the searched keyword.

Search Engine Optimization enables the website owners to provide such relevant keywords related to their business and increase the number of visitors on their websites. The more relevant keywords you provide, the higher your website is on the search results.

In terms of marketing, the higher the rankings on Search engines, the higher is the traffic and vice-versa.

This digital marketing technique involves Social media. When a product is being advertised on any type of social media platform, may it be messaging apps or discussion forums, its termed as social media marketing.

On average, a person spends around 3 hours on social media. This duration may vary up to 8 hours for school or college students, which is much more than the time spent in the outside world or any other mode of communication. Thus it can be clearly stated that any kind of information reaches youth faster on social media than any other way. Marketing on social media is much more effective than any other form, it even enhances the search engine rankings.

4. Pay Per Click Advertising

Have you ever noticed certain search results differentiated as sponsored, or google ads being popped up almost everywhere? Whenever a user clicks a particular ad, the advertiser has to pay to the platform owner such as Google or Bing. This is called pay per click advertising.

This cannot be stated as the best way of advertising but digitally it creates hype about the product. It doesn’t increase the users on its own rather buys the audience. It’s helpful in the beginning stage of the business.

5. Affiliate Marketing

How do Instagram models actually earn? This one question has always troubled us one time or another. The answer is affiliate marketing.

The social media influencers or bloggers earn money by advertising various products on their already established platforms and are known as the affiliates. Organizations pay their affiliates on a per-product sale basis i.e. when a product is sold to a customer linked to or brought by an affiliate, they get paid for it.

This work both ways by helping the influencers(affiliates) earn some extra cash and the organizations in marketing.

Just like the email marketing technique, instant messaging marketing is an act of sending bulk messages on various messaging apps such as WhatsApp, line, telegram, hike etc.

There are various businesses that have channels on Snapchat or telegram for marketing purposes. Daily message to the connected customers or potential buyers enables organizations to keep in touch with their customers and keep them up to date with any new happenings.

8. Search Engine Marketing

This is the best digital marketing technique. It’s almost similar to search engine optimization but the search rankings are improved by paying for it. It’s similar to buying a spot on top. Search engine optimization and social media marketing are both a part of this technique. This technique is most widely used and effective.

The website which is on top of search results is considered to be the most relevant one and thus gain the most audience.
