This past week was composed of few sleep-deprived nights, many cups of coffee, and many more almost-breaking-down moments. It was hectic for everyone: at any moment, you would find us either attending info sessions, networking in career events, preparing for job fairs, or polishing portfolios. Nonetheless, our team has made much progress on completing our goal of the week: interview as many people as possible!

Here is a sneak peak of what we have learnt from our interviews so far:

  • Having multiple software pieces in the P2P process leads to more confusion
  • The manual process of importing data into system is cumbersome
  • That being said, a lot of human errors occur consequently
  • External factors have a huge influence on the whole P2P process, depending on different industries
  • Manual invoice matching is exhaustive and inefficient

In addition to the incredible progress we made on the project, we also made breakthrough as a team. In a retrospective exercise, we presented our stress and concerns in an honest manner to our advisors. Everyone was nice enough to reach out and here’re some key takeaways we got:

  1. Acknowledge all the progress we have made so far — you know more than we think we do!
  2. It’s still the beginning of the project!

Next week, the team is diving into the ocean of interview notes! We will be using a research method that we all love and hate at the same time — Affinity Diagramming. It consists of several long hours where we debrief all the interviews we have done, by reorganizing the interview notes into new groupings. We look forward to the insights and design ideas that will emerge from the Affinity Diagram. Stay tuned for our next week’s blog!
