Candle & Wind
Dear Medium, when words meet the rhythm of my soul, in quiet moments, poetry emerges as a reflection of inner truth and beauty. Such is the beauty of conversations between a candle and the wind, that mesmerized me to pen them down. ‘Candle & Wind’ is a silent dialogue between two elements of nature; it is a poetic exploration of the universal themes of existence — the interplay of light and darkness, the ephemeral struggle of being and non-being, and the symbiotic relationships that are the essence of our lives.
This poem was born from a moment of my struggle to cope with post-Diwali loneliness. Waching at the candles and inspired by the simple flickering of a candle flame in the breeze, I began to think. It made me ponder the unnoticed conversations around us, where even the smallest entities hold deep wisdom and stories. I ended up writing it first on Quora Poetry Hub. You can read the original post here.
I now invite you to reflect on the delicate balances that govern our existence and find beauty in the transient nature of life. May you discover in these verses a resonance with your own inner truths, and may the dance of the candle and wind bring a new light to discover your inner beauty.
Candle asks, “O’Wind, Why do I burn?
No one needs my light…As the Day has its sun,
Earth is shining, In the divine blues & bright!”
_
Candle asks, “O’Wind, Festivities gone,
Fades away my gleam delight…As the Night has her moon,
Darkness hides, In my transcending twilight!”
_
Wind says, “O’Candle,
Moon loves an earth, Earth loves a Sun,
Bigger or smaller is none…
Like a Man loves his Woman,
Candle loves the wind,
Day loves the night, else
Who’d I blow If you’re gone?”
