Welcome to Our Blog
Greetings and have a look around! Pocket Gems began in 2009 by creating entirely new types of mobile games. We’re continuing that tradition today by developing genre-defining games and entertainment.
As a pioneer in the mobile gaming space, we believe in pushing the envelope for mobile technology. This blog is a way for us to share our experiences and learnings with other interested technologists.
Our Games
Though we’ve worked on many games over the years, Pocket Gems is currently most prominently known for:
- Episode — The Episode app is a mobile storytelling network and platform. Episode features interactive Hollywood-caliber stories built from the ground up for mobile, not the passive entertainment of TV and movies. In Episode, your choices decide the path of your story.
- War Dragons — War Dragons is a visually stunning 3D Real-Time Strategy game that puts you in control of hundreds of destructive dragons that use a combination of fire and magical spells to unleash their fury upon enemies. Build towers and defend your kingdom, amass the ultimate dragon army, and wreak havoc upon those who dare stand in your way.
Our Technical Vision
Our tech vision ties closely to our product vision. We want to be able to quickly create robust, fun experiences for our users. We do this with a combination of empathic feature design and by pushing the boundaries of what people expect from mobile games.
Content and Cadence
In this blog we’ll be presenting a mix of technical content and posts about what it means to work at PG (like this one!). Technical topics you might expect include:
- Full technical dives
- Our approach to benchmarking
- Design challenges
- The process of shipping software at scale
We’re going to start doing one post per month early on and based on response (and the time of our engineers) we may increase or decrease that, but we hope these posts are a useful resource regardless.
